Pedal to the Metal embossed birthday card

Hi Stamping Friends!

Today I created a birthday card for a friend who happens to be a UTV owner and enthusiast.  I used the shimmery black embossing powder to emboss the outline image of the UTV and then colored it in using Stampin' Blends and this really made the details on the UTV pop.  I also used Seaside Blue ink to emboss the water/puddle images and this looks really cool....just like the water we splash through when we are out on the trails.  I hope you enjoy this cute card!  Here are the details to recreate it....

Stamps:  Pedal to the Metal, Snow Front, Nature's Beauty, Peaceful Moments, My Meadow

Ink:  Balmy Blue, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede, Seaside Spray, Daffodil Delight, Memento Black, Versamark

Cardstock:  Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake, Whisper White

Accessories:  Shimmer black embossing powder, clear embossing powder, Stamping Sponges,

Tombow liquid adhesive, Whisper White envelope, post-it note for masking sun and UTV, heat tool, 1" circle punch

Dimensions:

Card base:  8 1/2" x 5 1/2 ", scored at 4 1/2" – Mossy Meadow

Inside of card:  5 1/4" x 4"  -  Whisper White

First layer:  5 3/8" x 4 1/8" – Crumb Cake

Second layer:  5 1/4" x 4" -- Whisper White 

Basic Instructions:

1.  Cut and fold card base. 

2.  Stamp sentiment from Peaceful Moments stamp set and grove of trees from Snow Front stamp set onto one of the Whisper White pieces for the inside of the card and adhere to inside of card base.  Set aside.

3.  Stamp an image of the UTV onto a post it note to use as a mask.  Fussy cut it out.  Use embossing buddy on the second Whisper White piece.  Now stamp the UTV image onto about the center of the second Whisper White piece with Versamark ink.  Sprinkle with black embossing powder and heat with heat tool.  Let it cool.

4.  Once it is cool, cover the image with the mask image of the UTV.  Using a Stampin sponge, sponge crumb cake ink onto the bottom half of the card using a torn piece of typing paper to make hills and valleys.  Move the paper to make different layers of "dirt". 

5.  Punch out a 1" circle from a post it note and place the circle in the upper right corner of the card to represent the sun.  Using a stamping sponge, using the Balmy Blue ink, sponge the sky around the sun and the UTV and stopping where the Crumb Cake "dirt' begins.  Remove the sun mask and replace with the cut-out piece of post it note from the sun punch and sponge the sun with Daffodil Delight ink.

6.  Use embossing buddy, then using Seaside Spray ink, ink up the water pond stamp image from the Snow Front stamp set and stamp the image where you want your "mud puddle" to be, then quickly cover with clear embossing powder.  (Don't let the ink dry or the powder won't stick.)  Heat with heat tool. 

7.  Again use the embossing buddy and then repeat with the swoosh image in the Seaside Spray where you want your water to be, then again quickly sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat with heat tool.

8.  Using the grove of trees image from the Snow Front Stamp set, stamp the trees on both sides of the UTV where the dirt and the sky meet using Old Olive ink. 

9.  Using Soft Suede ink, stamp some of the shrub images from the Nature's Beauty stamp set as desired, then fill in with some of the grass from the same stamp set using Mossy Meadow ink.

10.  Using Black Memento ink, stamp some of the birds from the My Meadow stamp set onto the sky and extending over the sun.

11.  Using Soft Suede ink, stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in the upper left corner.

12.  Using Stampin' Blends, color in the UTV as desired.  I used Dark and Light Mossy Meadow and Light and Dark Smoky Slate.  For the tires, I used the light Basic Black.  Using the light Balmy Blue Stampin' Blend, color in the sky in the UTV where the windows are.

13.  Stamp the grove of trees from the Snow Front stamp set onto the envelope flap.

Pressed Petals Birthday Card

For today's project I am using the Pressed Petals DSP to create a more masculine type of birthday card, but one that isn't super masculine and would work for women as well, kind of a multi-tasking card if you will.  I did use a retired birthday sentiment as I haven't had a chance yet to get all the stamp sets I'd like, so please bear with me.    I've included the card recipe below and it seems like a lot of layers, but it is super easy to put together once you have all your layers cut out.  You can mix and match patterns as you desire to achieve the look you're going for.  I just love this DSP and I'm thinking I might have to order another pack.  It is so versatile for birthday, sympathy, thinking of you.....all kinds of occasions. I CASE'd this card from Pinterest and I don't know who pinned it so I can't give them credit.   I hope you like it as much as I do!

List of Ingredients:

Stamps:  Birthday sentiment from stamp set of choice (I used a retired stamp from Sincere Sentiments), small flourish stamp from Woven Heirlooms stamp set.
Ink:  Mossy Meadow
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Mossy Meadow, Pressed Petals DSP.
Accessories:  Label die from Detailed Bands dies set, Rhinestone basic jewels, Tombow liquid adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, Very Vanilla envelope

Dimensions:

Card base:  8 1/2" x 5 1/2 ", scored at 4 1/2" – Mossy Meadow
Inside of card:  5 1/4" x 4"  -  Very Vanilla.  Strip of DSP (same pattern used for background on front of card) measuring 3/4" x 5".   Strip of scripty-type DSP or woodgrain DSP measuring 1/2" x 5"
First layer:  5 1/4" x 4" – DSP with smaller print/pattern
Second layer:  2 3/4" x 3 7/8" – card stock Mossy Meadow. 
                        2 5/8 x 3 3/4" – DSP with larger flower print/pattern
Third layer:  2 1/4" x 3 3/4" – card stock Mossy Meadow
                      2 1/8" x 3 5/8" – DSP with scripty-type pattern  or woodgrain
Scrap:  Very Vanilla for sentiment

Basic Instructions:

1.  Cut and fold card base. 
2.  Layer and adhere strips to Very Vanilla inside layer.  Adhere Very Vanilla to card base.
3.  Adhere first layer to card base.
4.  Layer and adhere second layer of DSP to Mossy Meadow cardstock and adhere to left upper corner of card.
5.  Layer and adhere third layer of DSP to Mossy Meadow cardstock and adhere to card overlapping the second layer, slightly lower and to the right onto card.  Adhere 3 Rhinestone basic jewels to upper left corner of this third layer.
6.  Die cut Very Vanilla scrap with label die and stamp sentiment in center.  Sponge Mossy Meadow ink onto edges of sentiment piece.  Adhere in lower center of card overlapping the other 2 layers with dimensionals and glue to even out the height of the sentiment.
7.  Stamp flourishes onto left and right lower corners on front of envelope.
